My Philosophy…My Quest

Once Shiridi Saibaba was resting and his disciple was massaging his legs and during the course he was reciting Gita. He was reciting sloka # 34 of chapter 4.
तद्विध्दि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रशनेन सेवया |
उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिननस्त्तत्वदर्शिनः ||4/34

Saibaba stopped him at this sloka and asked him the meaning.
The meaning was : The knowledge can be achieved accepting spiritual master by repeated asking by rendering services to the self realized who have Devine revelations. They will instruct you in wisdom.

Sai baba asked when Krishna himself is a god why did he direct Arjuna to go saints for knowledge. The disciple could not answer. Then Sai baba elaborated that there is no difference between a realized soul and God hence there is no difference in getting the knowledge from either of them.
Then Baba asked could this sloka be changed and interprested to seek Avidya instead of Vidya ( Knowledge). Again the disciple could not clarify. Then baba himself said If we can identify what is our lack of knowledge then Knowledge will automatically flow. So searching for Avidya will lead us the way to quell the darkness.I read this is a book about Sai baba.

At that Time I was reading a book by Name Zen and the Art of Motocycle maintenance by Robert Pirsig . This book brings out what is Avidya beautifully. All our miseries in life and happiness are defined as succumbing to Avidya and encountering Avidya. Successful people encounter Avidya. Archimedes could have ran away when he was condemned to death if he could not find the purity of Gold. But he encountered that Avidya by coming with’Archimedes principles’
So search for your Avidya that creates problems in life and encounter them.
